The difference Jesus makes: Urbain Yombe’s Story

Jesus is my all in all

The Lord is my solid rock, my fortress, my rescuer. My God is my rock— I take refuge in him!— he’s my shield, my salvation’s strength, my place of safety.

Psalm 18:2 CEB

Times of crisis usually shake the foundations of our life. The pandemic we are facing has revealed the foundations on which our lives are built and we have seen many foundations shattered by the pressure of the events of the last twelve months. Like many other people who have been affected by the pandemic, in the UK and all over the world, I have been facing challenges since the outbreak of the virus in the UK. As an example, everybody in my household contracted Covid-19 (myself, my wife and my two children). During the crisis, like in many other crises I have gone through in my life, Jesus Christ has always been my all in all.

I said that Jesus is my all in all because I always call out to him whenever I need help. I have built my life on his promises that never fail and God has been faithful to his word. Some of the promises that help me to engage in conversation with God are the following:

7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Matthew 7:7-11 NKJV

28 Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Matthew 11:28-29 NKJV

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV

Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.

1 Peter 5:7 AMPC

As the above verses, and many other in the Bible, show, God cares for us and invites us to go to him every day so that he can strengthen us and help us face crises when they arise. This is what I do in my life. I go to him with all my burdens, I make them known to him, cast them on him, ask for solution and he gives his peace to reassure me that he is in control.

Jesus makes a difference in my daily life, not only in the time of crises. He is my best friend and I share everything with him. I would like to invite and encourage you to try Jesus Christ. Accept the friendship request he made to you a long time ago. If you want to take a step nearer to Jesus you can get in touch with us or join in one of our hubs; if you have questions you can explore them here or simply try praying.

God Bless You
