Our Discipleship Journey Together
Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Acts 2:46-47
At our Sunday Celebration last week Sam introduced the idea of Hubs to us: these are the foundation of our church as the main way we ‘do church’. As we see from Acts 2:42-47, we arenβt meant to be disciples alone; we are meant to live life together, praise Him together, pray and learn together.
The early church met in all kinds of places: synagogues, temple courts, house to house, rivers, prisons, lecture halls, market places etc; they met wherever people of the time usually met together. The key was they were intentional in meeting, committed to one another and keeping each other accountable in their discipleship. For us that is the sentiment behind our Hubs: a space where we can learn, inspire and grow together. Hubs can be anywhere at anytime, but the key is that they are people committed to each other, intentionally meeting to create space for Jesus in their daily lives.
Sam delved into this deeper for us:
If you’d like to get involved with any of our Hubs please do Get In Touch. You can find out a little bit more about them below:
Family Hub
A time for families to connect, usually over food. We have two Hubs tea at Crossness Road at 4pm for those with older kids and teens and then tea at Harebell Terrace at 5pm for those with pre and primary school aged kids.
Monday Hub
These spaces are more for the adults to dig a bit deeper and reflect.
Neighbour Mondays are the first Monday of the month, where we encourage you to get together with a neighbour to simply read the bible and pray. This can be any time that suits you and can be as long or as short as you like.
Youth Hub
This is bi weekly for our those in secondary school at The Warehouse on Thames Road. This is a time for our teens to hang out together, enjoy games and refreshments but also come together to get to know Jesus more. We are currently using Scripture Unionβs Rooted as a way to shape our conversations with our young people.
All are welcome to join us at any of the above, so please do not hesitate to come along!
